Vinyl Transfers
Last week, I started a project I have been wanting to do for a while. I’m taking my vinyl records that I don’t own digitally and transferring them to my computer. Nerdy? Yes. If you have vinyl, it’s a really fun thing to do, a way to preserve your music and it’s a great way to enjoy a record from start to finish. One of the best things about listening back on your computer or iPod is that it still sounds like your listening to the actual vinyl. I’m sure some people clean up transfers and get rid of all the crackling. To me, thats part of the experience of listening to a vinyl record. I even make sure you can hear the needle drop when transferring. Lastly, if you collect vinyl and want to take nerdy to another level, visit RECORD NERD. HERE is my collection
So, if you collect vinyl and have a turntable with RCA outputs on the back, do your self a favor and transfer some vinyl! Other than your computer with a recording program (I use Garageband) and a turntable, all you need is a pre amp, some RCA cables and a RCA to 1/8th inch cable.

My husband was doing this for a while. He gets rid of the substantial crackles, though. LOL He rather got waylaid on the project a while back, so not sure how far he’s actually gotten. I wish I had half of the records I used to. For one thing, I’d love to record my old Janis Ian records that I used have on vinyl. One of them is hard to get on cd now.

If only you had that sweet red couch to relax on, in between transfers…
