Relient K News!!
There’s a ton going on in Relient K world right now! It’s been hard to keep my lips sealed about this, but today we announced all of it! A few items…
1. Recording…
Today, we headed into Dark Horse Recording with Mark Lee Townsend at the helm. It’s always a great pleasure to work with Mark. I first worked with him back in 2004 on the Supertones’ Revenge Of… album. After set up, getting sounds and breaking for lunch, I hacked out 3 songs for the afternoon. Tomorrow I should get more songs done, being that it will be the first full day.
2. Recording pt.2
Sometime in the near future, we are heading my home turf of Southern California to work on more tracks for the record with John Feldmann of Goldfinger! I met him a few years back in Dublin, Ireland. Great dude. Can’t wait to meet him again. He probably won’t remember me. Either way, I love the stuff he works on!!
3. New Record Label Info
Thiessen can beter explain this one. From his blog…
“After we turned in The Bird And The Bee Sides, we fulfilled our first record deal (six albums) with Gotee Records. This made us free agents. Our plan? Matt Hoopes and I just signed up to begin positions as A&R for the soon to be resurrected Mono Vs. Stereo records. We’ll sign a few bands a year, and also release Relient K’s material through the label. We’ll set up some email addresses soon with the specific purpose of receiving demos from unsigned artists. All this to say, we may eventually end up partnering up with the least evil of majors that expresses interest in giving us a helping hand. We’ll just have to see. Fun stuff!!”
4. New Website
Well…sort of. We have a temp site up right now until we get a new site going for the new record. It’s mainly links to things like myspace, blogs, etc…
5. West Coast Tour Dates!!
The west coast will be neglected no more! It’s been a while but we are headed out west soon to do some club shows with Owl City. Also on selected dates will be Runner Runner & The Classic Crime! Check my tour dates page for more info!
Whew! I know thats alot of info to soak up right now, but I think it’s well worth the wait! I’ll be updating from the studio daily with photos and such. Ok, my hands hurt from playing drums and typing all this. Here’s a photo from the studio today, just before I started tracking, courtesy of my good buddy Cale Glendening.

Well, I read Thiessen’s blog and was so excited I couldn’t go to sleep. LOL
I was a tad disappointed that Runner Runner isn’t playing our show, but The Classic Crime is good. It just seems forever since I’ve seen Peter and Ryan, and I haven’t seen Runner Runner yet.

Yes!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is my favorite band ever! And they are coming to Utah this Thursday, too!!! Can’t wait. Relient K is amazing!
