Hey Ethan, I read RK tweets everyday and have been noticing u cursing in some of ur tweets. I’ve actually found that to be a bit discouraging as a Christian when I hear my “Christian” friends swearing all the time. I mean it’s not black and white, but idk it doesn’t seem right to me. it might just be me being too judgmental. but i really agree with ur blog post. It’s quite inspiring, actually.
on a separate note, when i heard u guys are doing warped 2011, my day got 10X better!

I completely agree with you; it’s people who think and say things like that that are giving Christianity a bad name. Where I live, people scoff at Christians because of the reputation that has unfortunately befallen upon being a Christian. Even people in my own family conform to the bad stereotype. I’m so glad there’s someone else out that who sees it the way I do.

Awesome stuff. I’ve been struggling with this for a while. Not whether I would hang out with people ‘like that.’ I already do. More so, it has been a struggle for us as a band, what sort of ‘situations’ we get ourselves into. This is helpful to hear. Keep aiming for Jesus. Keep making great music.

Dude, Ethan! I am glad you posted this! because i feel the same way! it seriously makes me sick when Christians do that! we are to love, doesn’t matter who it is! God is a God of love! We are called to show them love! and just because you are friends with them doesn’t mean you practice the same thing as them or whatever! Relient k is a great band! and i have always loved Relient k! and you all are so talented!! and great guys!

Amen! That is who Christ is…we all need to be more like that Christ, and less like the Christ we pretend to be today…even though no one cares to know that that Christ isn’t even real…like you said, Christianity has become so sheltered!

This reminds me to a disturbing level of when I was talking to some friends about seeing you guys in St. Louis last fall. I was commenting on how much I liked Barcelona and one of my friends said “Yeah, they were ok, but I don’t think they were Christian.”

Huh? His reason was even worse. “Well, did you see how they came out on stage with those beers? There’s no way!” (ironically my dad was in the back of the theater drinking the same thing)

The sooner people who say they believe in what Jesus taught actually start living it, the better it’ll be for everyone involved.

Very nicely put. People too often forget that We are supposed to be “IN the world and not of the world” key word being in, not in the world but separated from the rest of the world.
