R.I.P. Charlie Louvin

Charlie Louvin passed away early this morning and I, as many do, know that this is such a huge loss for country music and music in general.  If you don’t know the music of The Louvin Brothers, do yourself a favor and pick up a record of theirs.  Their influence through decades of music is undeniable.  Any country artist will tell you, if they are smart, that no one perfected harmonies like The Louvin Brothers and they set a standard too high to reach.  Pick up any of their records and you’ll know what I mean.

I had the honor of meeting Charlie a few years back at a signing at Grimey’s, here in Nashville.  It was me and a few dozen older ladies waiting to meet him.  I stepped on the back deck, with my guitar I wanted signed by Charlie, and there he was.  I asked him if I could get a signature and a photo.  Charlie looked at all my tattoos and said, “You know my music, son?” I said, “Yes sir.” He said, “Well, thats great but you know i’m about to ruin a perfectly good guitar by writin’ on it.”

A friend of mine said this, which you can’t deny…“The Louvin Brothers changed the world of music, without the world really noticing. From a harmony standpoint, there would be no 1960s vocal groups (Everly Bros, Simon & Garfunkel, Beach Boys, Beatles) without them.”

RIP CHARLIE LOUVIN

Been working on some new photography lately.  Here’s a sample.

Paramore

Late last year I shot behind the scenes video and photos for Paramore’s video “Playing God.”  Since they only used a select few (I shot a ton) I thought I would show a few of my favorites that were not used.  I hope you like them!
